There is always an increase in residential burglaries at this time of year due to the clocks changing when afternoons become darker and in the build up to Christmas.
Our advice is:
- Make sure all windows and doors are locked even when you are in the house.
- Do not leave keys on the inside of the lock or in view of doors or windows.
- Ensure any side gates or entrances are locked.
- Consider investing in a timer for your lights so that they come on at certain times to make it look like someone is at home.
- Consider leaving a television or radio on if you are out for the evening or invest in a TV flicker plug in.
- Install security lighting outside your property with a motion sensor.
- If you have an intruder alarm make sure you set it when you are not in the property and if you have the facility to do a night set then ensure this is also set when you go to bed.
- Do not put your presents underneath the Christmas tree in view of a window or door.
If you do not have an alarm system in your property please feel free to contact us as we can recommend some alarm install companies to you.
