Who responds to your alarm or CCTV?
9th March 2017
A burglar who raided a Cotswold Farmhouse and stole more than £10,000 worth of jewellery has appeared in Court and received a suspended prison sentence despite the devastating impact the offence has had on the owners.
The perpetrator was caught because his face was clearly visible on the owner's home CCTV.
The Prosecutor said in Court that the owner and her family were away for a few days at the time of the burglary but the house was well covered with CCTV and an alarm system.
At about 03.30am, the owner was asleep when her alarm system sent an alert to her mobile phone. However, she did not look at this until the following morning when she saw a picture of two burglars outside her front door.
If you are going to go to the expense of having your home covered by an alarm system and CCTV it is really important to ensure that in the event of an activation someone is going to act upon it. This must have been absolutely devastating for the owners and I am sure they have tremendous regrets that they did not look past the notification from their alarm and CCTV system when it came through.
In Court it was stated that the perpetrators must have been in the house for some time because police automatic number plate recognition system shows their car going to the property at 02:25am and not leaving until 04:40am. Using a professional Alarm Response Company could have limited the damage done and could have resulted in an immediate arrest.
We specialise in Keyholding and Alarm Response and operate 24 hours per day giving our clients peace of mind that should their alarm system activate we will respond to it swiftly.
